Vanishing Point

Living in the era of climate change, we are witness to a relentless process of extinction.

Man’s striving for progress has evolved into the next geological phase where the natural environment, as we knew it, is changing, morphing to disappearance under the actions of human beings. Plastic bags, one of man’s artificial creations, have now been banned in several parts of the world in the attempt to save the planet.

As ever more species are dying, will man-made plastic constructions survive? In what form? What will be left of them? Under a new cultural context, how important will they be? Will they be remembered and if so, how?

As part of an ongoing project that started in September 2016 at Mark’s and Anne Art Party biannual event in San Jose, CA, with the artwork titled, Canned, Memories are Priceless, I am collecting people’s memories of plastic bags.

So I would like to ask you: what are your memories of plastic bags? Would you like to share them with me?
If so, you can email them to this address: claudia.b@hotmail.co.uk

This exchange is an intrinsic part of the artwork that cannot be complete without your participation.

Thank you
